SIGNED AND DATED BY THE AUTHOR AND INSCRIBED TO HIS FRIEND E.A. BRININSTOOL, acclaimed author of many books related to the American Indian, Custer, and the great Southwest. Accompanying this book are two, three page magnificent typed, hand signed letters from Lorenzo Walters to Brininstool. In them Walters speaks of his cavalry days, Indians he knew, Stuart Lake, John P. Clum, Emmett Dalton, N.H. Rose and Northfield , Minnesota where he went to school for ten years and knew people who were there and wounded when the James Gang tried to rob the bank. Also included is a 1953 post card from a book seller in New Jersey telling his customer in Cleveland that this book is on its way. He goes on to say that another dealer wanted the book mainly for the incredible letters. This title is rarely offered with the elusive dust jacket. Many copies of this book were either destroyed or water damaged in a warehouse fire in Tucson in 1929, thus its rarity in its original dust jacket.
