Pakistan conversely has viewed Afghanistan as a counter balance to Indian dominance in South Asia. Islamabad views friendly relationship between India and Afghanistan as disadvantageous to its national security interests as the two states border the two sides of Pakistan. Pakistan feels encircled by India on both sides of its borders.
