Best in Children's Books: Volume 33 [Very Good] [Hardcover]
""Best in Children's Books"" was a series of 42 volumes published between 1957 and 1961. Each volume contained an excellent mixture of ten to twelve pieces, each illustrated by a different artist and taken from a variety of sources. The stories could be adapted classics, fairy tales, or new stories. There could be quite lengthy stories, or short verses. Each volume also contained some non-fiction, including a biographical piece on a famous person, and a short description of a country. Most notable about this series was the use of some excellent illustrators. This volume, number 33 in the series, was the last of the six volumes containing new illustrations by Andy Warhol. Here, he provides drawings for the story ""Sophocles the Hyena"" by Jim Moran. There is also a story illustrated by Richard Scarry, a long Irish tale by Richard Bennett, a biography of Andrew Jackson, and a visit to Peru amongst many other excellent items. Edges are slightly browned, otherwise a very good copy indeed. One of the scarcer volumes from this terrific series.
